Radio Casteldebole weekly: there is still a small chance to resume the Serie A
The world’s destiny is still uncertain due to the Coronavirus issue: hundreds of thousand of people are still infected by the virus and probably a lot more will be in the next few days, with the United States leading this sad ranking. New York has been the most affected city, with thousand of dead every day and with more than half a million of citizens who have lost their job. In the UK, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has left the intensive therapy of the St. Thomas hospital in London and is now feeling better. In Italy, despite the lockdown decided the 11th of March by the government, there’s still a high number of infected and deaths, and we’re slightly getting used to this routine. In addition to this, the lockdown will probably be extended until the 3rd of May.
Regarding the sports: after the official cancellation of the Italian basketball season decided by the F.I.P., football is still asking itself if it would be wise to resume the championship. Probably the training will resume the 4th of May and then there are three hypothesis for the resume of the Serie A: 24th of May, 31st of May or the 7th of June. We will see if these scenarios will be workable or not, everything will depend on the virus, as always. Meanwhile, the majority of the players who were infected are almost all healed: Cutrone, Pezzella, Vlahovic (Fiorentina), Gabbiadini, Colley, La Gumina, Ekdal, Thorsby, Bereszyinski, Depaoli, Barreto (Sampdoria) and Zaccagni (Verona) are feeling well and came back negative to the Covid-19. Different situation for Dybala, Rugani and Matuidi (Juventus) who are still in quarantine and didn’t came back negative to the swab.
Bologna FC has started discussing the layoff of the single players. Claudio Fenucci, Bologna’s CEO, will have individual meetings with the players, looking for an arrangement that would save a lot of money, around 7 and 15 million of euros, that, in today’s circumstances, would mean a lot.
