A Cynical Bologna:

two shots, two goals

On  12^nd  January, 1964 the seventh year of the Red-blue championship, the Bologna went to Rome in order to tackle the Lazio. While the Red-bleu faced to win the championship with the Milan and The International Milan Foot Ball, the Lazio, even if it was a half in the table with only three points, was entangled with regolation zone.

At the Olimpico  Stade, we watched the seventh consecutive win of the Bologna and the fifth consecutive defeat of the White-blue.The winning authors were Tumburus and Demarco who would only score a goal of all season.. The guys of Fulvio Bernandini in the 90th minute shot only twice and scored two goals.The Bologna played like this by then: two shots, two goals. It was really strong and lucky, too.The inadequate Lazio had done everything possible.

At first Tumburus had stroken the Lazio only the first time when he went into its box. Then, Morrone duly equalized after more a half an hour but Demarco guessed the striker performance.

After a boring kick-off, Rozzoni had an unique opportunity in the 7th minute, but he kicked from left too fast  without much belief. Negri saved without problems. Haller kicked away the goal in the 10th minute. Negri then  saved on Maraschi in the 32nd minute.

Despite several corners, the Bologna was hardly ever dangerous. Yet, at seventh corner, Perani passed Haller who kicked and Pagni drove back the ball and Tumburus surprised Cei with his left foot. The Bologna was 1-0 in the 38th minute. The Red-blue could double in the 43rd minute but Bulgarelli lost a lucky option.

The Lazio attacked in the second half. Negri saved in the 47th minute and kicked Galli and Governato in the 50th minute. He saved Rozzoni after a beautiful action by Landoni-Maraschi in the 61st minute.

A terrible scrimmage with Cei doing several interventions in the air, who was able to catch the ball in the White-blue box in the 65th minute, so the Bologna didn’t shoot. Maraschi cross, Mazzia header and Morrone shot and drew 1-1 in the 76th minute. Yet, the Bologna shot and won in the 81st minute with a Bulgarelli pass to Demarco. The Lazio wasn’t able to fight back.
